Inner West Side Case Study: Law Office Network Expansion & MDF Relocation

A growing immigration law practice on San Antonio’s Inner West Side needed to expand its office. The expansion also created an opportunity to improve the firm’s network infrastructure rather than simply extending the existing layout into the additional space.

ASAP Computer Services installed the new Network Cabling required for the expanded practice and relocated the firm’s main distribution point into a dedicated rack and server-room area. Moving the MDF meant that the physical network infrastructure, active network equipment and existing production connections all had to be coordinated as part of the same project.

Our team provided the Network Support required during the migration so the firm’s existing network could be moved onto the new physical infrastructure. That included reconnecting and validating the network rather than treating the cabling installation and active equipment as unrelated scopes of work.

Once the network move was complete, ASAP commissioned the office’s new Wi-Fi access points and verified connectivity across the expanded environment.

The migration was deliberately uneventful. That is exactly what we want to see when relocating an MDF or moving a production network. Employees should return to their desks and find that the network, internet, business systems and wireless connectivity simply work rather than spending the next several days discovering problems created by the move.

This project illustrates why some businesses use ASAP for both Network Support and Network Cabling. The same team can coordinate the Layer 1 infrastructure, equipment relocation, Wi-Fi and final production cutover.
