South Side Case Study: Pharmacy Infrastructure Migration & Managed IT
ASAP Computer Services supported a substantial technology migration for a pharmacy operation on San Antonio’s South Side. The organization had experienced significant growth and needed an infrastructure environment capable of supporting a production workload whose availability and recoverability were important to daily operations.
The project involved moving the organization away from its previous cloud-hosted environment toward self-hosted and colocated infrastructure, with equipment also installed in a purpose-built server-room environment.
ASAP built the Network Cabling infrastructure required to support the server room and production network. The environment also needed to support VoIP communications along with the server and application systems used by the business.
The production design incorporated high-availability and failover capabilities. Virtualization was implemented using VMware, which was the selected hypervisor for the project at the time it was built. Endpoint and security protection included CrowdStrike.
Backup and disaster recovery were especially important. The environment used Veeam for both onsite and offsite backup protection so the organization was not dependent on a single copy of critical production data.
That recovery strategy mattered because the pharmacy processes a high volume of transactions. The project notes specifically emphasize the importance of transactional backups and disaster-recovery planning to the business.
The pharmacy also serves facilities across approximately a dozen locations throughout Greater San Antonio. A technology failure therefore has the potential to affect more than a single workstation or one small office.
After the infrastructure migration was completed, ASAP continued supporting and maintaining the production environment through ongoing Managed IT Services. The engagement therefore spans both a substantial project and the long-term responsibility of helping maintain what was built afterward.
This case study demonstrates the range of a full IT engagement: server-room infrastructure, Network Cabling, virtualization, high availability, backups, cybersecurity, communications, Network Support and ongoing Managed IT all had to work as parts of one production system.
Network Support for Critical Business Systems
ASAP provides Network Support for business environments where connectivity is tied directly to production systems, applications and communications.
Network Support may include switches, firewalls, VLANs, server connectivity, Wi-Fi, internet connections, network redundancy and troubleshooting across the environment.

Network Cabling & Server-Room Infrastructure
ASAP provides Network Cabling for server rooms, offices, facilities and commercial expansion projects.
This type of work can include Cat6, Cat6A, fiber, racks, patch panels, MDF/IDF improvements, server-room cabling, VoIP connections, Wi-Fi access-point cabling, labeling and testing.
IT Support, Security & Business Continuity
ASAP provides IT Support for organizations that need help maintaining servers, endpoints, applications, backups and network systems.
Technology selections differ from one customer to another. The South Side pharmacy environment used VMware virtualization, CrowdStrike security and Veeam backup technology because those products fit the requirements of that specific project.
